Medicinal Uses and Healing Benefits

Soursop leaves have a long history in traditional herbal medicine. They contain antioxidant compounds (such as flavonoids and acetogenins) and have been used to support immune health, calm the nervous system, and ease inflammation.

Ethnobotanical uses include treating headaches, insomnia, digestive complaints, high blood pressure, and infections.

However, it’s important to note that the scientific evidence is still limited—especially for internal use—and there are safety concerns with long-term or high-dose use (e.g., potential neurotoxicity).

Metaphysical and Magical Properties

In metaphysical practice, soursop leaves are valued for their spiritual cleansing, protection, and dream-work properties. They are thought to clear stagnant or negative energy, enhance intuition, and bring calm and renewal.

They may be used in rituals for purification, in sachets under pillows to support vivid dreams, or in incense blends for spiritual clarity and protection.
